Heaven is Here

I cradle my baby in the middle of the night. In her milk stupor, she runs her hand up and down my arm and I know it.

Heaven is here.

Husbandisms #15: Under the Influence

This last weekend, Ty had another go round with kidney stones. We like to keep ourselves guessing with those bad boys. His medication had a fantastic effect on his already unpredictable sayings.

While we were trying to manage Ty's pain at home, I left him and Lady Poopington (our child) on the bed while I got a heating pad for him. When I came back he said, "I've told her all the PIN numbers and I told her to take care of you. I love you." Dramatic much?

T: I'm going to need you to do something for me. Since my fingers are not agile, I'm going to need you to be my scribe... For Facebook. I need to post an update.
(This update was nonsensical and had far too many hashtags)

E: (after Ty told me a random story) Do you even know what you're saying?
T: Yes. Errr.. No. Well I think sometimes I think I know what I'm saying.

E: Do you need me to get you another pill?
T: No, I already did. I'm in charge of my own destiny.

T: You know that Miranda Sings girl? Last night I dreamed that she and I were saving the world. One set of cherry lips at a time. Why are you laughing? It's not funny. Good night skinny tater tot. (I've never been called that or anything close to that before in my life.)

And this last one, he wasn't on drugs.

T: I need to put some lotion on. I'm as dry as a freaking bald eagle's talon.

That's all for now. I'm glad I will never be bored. Ever.

Five Months

This was the month that Little Girl showed us who was boss. Her sleeping schedule was all over the place with new things like growth spurts and solid foods and teething. With the teething came a new dislike for the binkie which meant me and my girls were the only things that soothed her. Hopefully we can get her attached to a blankie or stuffed animal or really any inanimate object soon.

She has a few more skills in her repertoire now including squealing at deafening decibels and scooting in a circular fashion. She can't steer very well but give her another week and I'm sure she'll be tap dancing.

This month has been rough on the parentals but we love her. As hard as it is, I love when she wants me. I love when she gets so excited when Ty gets home. I love when she grabs my cheeks and just smiles at me. I love how she laughs at any funny noises or dance moves. I love when she gives me slobbery kisses. I love when she goes crazy when she hears the bath filling up. I love how social she is and how she wants to be included. I love that it's not hard to get a smile. I love how at this very moment she's cuddled into me while she naps. Most of all, I love her.

I know when she's older, she will be a strong, independent, driven woman. But for now, she's just the boss of our house.

4 Months

The little is 4 months old and we've experienced some more firsts:
-She met Santa for the first time. Didn't care at all but she sure smiled.
-She witnessed her first snow storm which at first was awesome but then she was over it. I feel ya girl. Me too.
-She mastered rolling from her back to her front. She rolled from her front to her back first but has since forgotten how to do that.
-We abandoned her one night to go to a concert and she was babysat by my aunt. It's the first time we've left her for a significant time period where we weren't ten minutes away. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't holding my phone the whole night.
-Most importantly, she was blessed in Church by her father. This is similar to a christening in other religions where she is given her name, which will go on the records of the Church, and a blessing.

Little Girl, keep rocking our world.
