Long Time Coming...

Well, this has definitely been a long time coming. I've been working on this T-shirt quilt for over a year now.. It was pieced together before I was even married, tied with my grandma and aunt in April or May and I finally bound it this week. I don't think I'll ever be binding anything again. That was annoying.

Not all the shirts are BYU shirts, they're just all from my time at BYU thus the EFY and FOL shirts. Holy acronyms.

I would like to take this moment to thank anyone that I ever texted in the process of obtaining all those BYU shirts. Just know that I'll think of you whenever we use it even if I've since deleted you from my contacts.

My Two Cents

So back in July when everyone was talking about Harry Potter and the end of everything - I never said anything. Mostly because I was living in a state of denial. I am not joking. I put off seeing the movie because I knew once I did, it was all over.

I got the first book on my 11th birthday from Emilee Young at the surprise birthday party that Darci Nelson threw for me. It is no coincidence that in the first pages of the book, Harry also turned 11.

After that, I devoured the 2nd and 3rd. I made my mom take me to Costco the morning the 4th book was available. I waited in line for the 5th book in my chinese take out pajamas with my aunt and uncle in Arizona. A group of friends and I had a party until it was time to pick up the 6th. My brother and I waited impatiently  for the 7th. I read all through the night.

We eventually saw the 8th and final movie and I cried from beginning to end. even though I knew how it would end. I cried when it was sad, when it was happy, when it was tense. I cried because I knew this was it. I cried because the end of Harry Potter means the end of an era. I cried because I know these people. Harry. Hermione. Ron. Dumbledore. Ginny. Fred. George. Luna. Neville. Dobby. Snape. Sirius. Remus. Tonks. James. Lily And I know what they've done for me. I could always count on their integrity, loyalty and faith. Their blatant disregard for rules and their goodness of heart. And most of all, their endless love. If I've learned anything from them at all, it is the fact that love conquers all. When you have love, you have everything.

Thank you, Harry.

Husbandisms 1

Ty is hilarious.. and no one knows it because he is so reserved around everyone except for me. So from now on, I'm recording all of the hilarious that comes out of him.

{This picture has nothing to do with anything. But no ones likes a post without pictures!}

As we're making the bed:
T: Don't tuck the sheet in!!!
E: uh.. we're making the bed. I'm making hospital corners.
T: It's just.. I'm not a candy bar.
E: What?!
T: I don't like being wrapped so tight! .. you know, like a candy bar.

In the car, listening to ghetto beats:
T: When we have kids, we're gonna roll like this.
E: jamming to the beat
T: We're gonna have a... what was it again?
E: Oh.. the hamster car?
T: No.. the "something" wagon.
E: Swagger Wagon
T: Yeah.. a Swagger Wagon

We're laying on the couch, in the dark, the credits of Bones are rolling while a piano plays in the background. I'm laying on one half of the sectional and I see Ty sit up on the other side. I glance over to find my sweet husband jamming on his air piano with all of the feeling a concert pianist could ever muster. I fall into a silent fit of giggles, which said husband doesn't notice for a couple minutes on account of his eyes are squeezed shut with all those feelings he was feeling.

We're eating watermelon... straight out of the watermelon.
T: I wonder who cracked open a watermelon and just tried it, you know?
E: I wonder who decided 'oh, it's not poisonous... yet."
T: Like someone just cracked it open and started eating the flesh.
E: I bet this is what they ate in the Garden of Eden. I bet watermelon was everyone.
T: *Makes faces, pretends like he's eating, noises of sheer delight, several "Mmmmm"s*
E: What are you doing?
T: I'm just doing what Adam did when he first had watermelon.

Don't worry, there will be much more to come.

So gangster, I'm so thug

So Tyler and I forget our wedding song frequently. You would think that it would be an important thing to remember but in all honesty, I think he picked it off of Pandora. Then he downloaded it the night before our wedding and accidentally downloaded the sampler version so it was only like.. 30 seconds long. Which turned out to be really awkward. I think we replayed it three times and then the awkward was too much for us.

Our real wedding song would have been this:

If you actually listen to the words, it's about breaking up. Which would have probably cursed this marriage from the beginning. It's also Nelly so not really wedding appropriate. But when it comes on the radio, we get super gangsta. We throw our hands around like Nelly does. We emphasize the "love of my life, my shorty, my wife" part and we shake our heads cuz we're just feeling the song so much.

Definitely not traditional but neither are we :)

Summer Summer Summer

We've kind of had a low key summer (if you don't count Disneyland... or kidney stones). Which is why you haven't heard from us in awhile. But seriously, with Ty slaving away for the man (I don't know who the man is) and me working my fan-danny off to catch up in my class after the kidney stones, we've just been boring people.

We found out that the student discount at Wynnsong Movie Theater is pretty sick and so we went three times in two weeks. That's what we were living for.

However, something I've been counting down to for forever is going to visit my fam in the deserts of WA. This is the part where you're confused because Washington is supposed to be this lush green state where granolas and vampires congregate, not a barren waste land. Well here's the deal... no one tells you that only half of Washington is beautiful. The east side is like the ugly half sister no one talks about. The east side is probably told to hide in her room when company comes over.

Either way, I was pumped to get over there. And Ty was wondering what the heck we were going to do for the whole week. But boy oh boy, we showed him.

(On our way to WA!!! So stylish in our shades.)

(This time I'm "looking" but really I'm not cuz I'm driving and sunglasses are sneaky like that.)

We went boating on the Columbia River. (Yes, I said river. We don't really do the whole "lake" thing.)

(Ash Ketchum loves to drive the boat with Grandpa)

We had family pictures. Ah, precious. Ashley a.k.a. Baby Terrorist was not happy to comply.. though she was happy to hit and bite whenever an opportunity presented itself.

The Momsy and I took Ty to the Dairygold Cheese Factory in Sunnyside. Little did we know, they had remodeled since my younger days and therefore, it sucked. Poor Ty. Got his hopes up for nothing. Luckily, we made off like bandits with some Squeaky Cheese!

(Me and Ty posing with a mural at the cheese factory)

(Momsy and Baby T representin)

Ty was a great sport and went to some of my dad and brother's softball games while I went to water aerobics with my Majsha. (Water Aerobics = whatever you're picturing in your head right now.)

(It also might be something like this.)

I also took Ty to the infamous 7-11 where they have the world's largest selection of slurpee flavors. We got the largest sizes and after about half an hour felt the need to purge our bodies of the intense surgar overload.

(The wall of slurpee machines and some sexy people.)

One morning, Ty and I got up super early, walked to a neighbor's house and picked tons of raspberries and strawberries. We made freezer jam baby! (The "we" this time is the Momsy, sister and me) That stuff is gelatinous gold.

(This is me picking raspberries. In case you can't see me, I'm the one in tie dye.)

We watched home videos (per Ty's request.. such an odd person). I think my dad recorded every show there ever was at Disneyland. Three times. Ty was also left wondering why on earth he married me after watching "Wedgie-mania 2000" and several appearances of the baby blanket I still sleep with circa 1994.

For our Farewell Tour we had a nice hot dog dinner as we floated down the Columbia again.

(Crossing the Washington/Oregon border on our way home. Look to the left.. wasteland. Look to your right... wasteland.)

We had a great trip although we did not love the driving part. We took turns driving but almost no sleeping happened. I think it's because we both felt guilty not making sure the other was staying awake. (Mostly we just haven't decided if we really trust each other. I guess we'll have to up the number of trust falls we practice during FHE next week.) We also learned quite a bit about each other. Like how Ty's driving music is Queen and I know all the words to "Don't Stop Me." And how we are so melodious. And how we should probably start a band. And how we'll probably give the White Stripes a run for their money. I'm telling you. "Oh my gosh. That was harmony!"

It was a great trip and we're looking forward to next time, when the only driving to be had will be to and from Salt Lake International :)

The Land I Call My Home

I love this country. I love my freedom.
I love the 4th of July.

I have always loved Independence Day but this year I realized more than ever that I am fiercely patriotic. I started to tear up when the veterans passed us in the parade and later when the fireworks burst overhead. Recently Ty has been watching an HBO mini series about John Adams and I'm always blown away by how close to Heavenly Father our founding fathers were to create such an inspired document.

{My second mom and me. And the skirt that I made for the 4th. I asked Ty what he was going to wear for the day and he said that he was unaware the 4th of July warranted its own outfit. Silly Boy.}

Ty and I definitely celebrated our little patriotic hearts out. We headed up to my grandparents' house to celebrate in small town style. We started out with a breakfast at the park followed by a parade. Every primary from every local ward was present as well as the cheerleaders from the junior high and high schools.

{This one's just to show off my skirt some more. I was also teased quite a bit by my uncles because I may or may not look a little like Wonder Woman. My bad.}

During the day we went to the aquatic center and froze our booties off because it decided to get cold for a little while. We went back to my grandparents' for a BBQ with the whole fam bamily and once it got dark we headed back to the park for fireworks.

{Me and Ty at the fireworks.}
When I was little, we would lay blankets out in the outfield and my grandpa would help light the fireworks off from home plate. It was always fun laying down and watching the {still burning} debris fall on top of you. Since then, "they" have decided that's dangerous and you have to have a permit to light fireworks. {crazies} So my grandpa doesn't help anymore and they have professionals light them from a "safe" distance. {Life ruiners. They ruin people's lives.}

Over all, it was a great day. God bless America :)
