What We've Been Up To

So our summer is nuts and between the beginning of May and our baby's due date, there were only 3 free weekends. We've already passed one, another has since been booked which leaves June 22 if anyone wants to hang out that day.

For Memorial Day weekend, we drove up to Boise for my cousin's wedding reception. My whole family met us there as well and we had a great time being with them. My sister's kids, Ashley and Ryan, have so much personality. One morning, we were at breakfast and Ashley looked at my plate and then says, "Your baby likes to eat."

Ry baby is just barely one and he loves his mom but as long as you gave him food, he's your best friend. This is just a little ice cream facial hair.

Also, I think my child is a secret weapon. Since I've been pregnant, I can calm down any child. Ryan was so whiny and tired and I just held him for a little while and he conked out. He doesn't look so much like a baby here.

And surprisingly, we have no pictures of Ashley. She wanted to ride in our car so for the majority of the weekend, her car seat was in our car. She said the funniest things like, "Turn on the music Ty!" and "Emily.. (long pause)... I love you." She also had us convinced she knew all the words to "Trouble" by Taylor Swift and only afterwards we found out she had never heard the song.

I sure wish those babies lived closer to me.

Next, one of my very best friends is having a baby at the beginning of July and I made and tied this blanket for her. She's up in Washington so I wasn't able to attend her shower. She doesn't know the gender of her baby but she's having a cute forest theme for her nursery. She and I have been friends since the first day of second grade when we wore the exact same shirt to school. The extra special thing about this blanket is that the lace and the yellow ties are the exact same as the lace and yellow ties I put on a blanket for my little girl. These babes will be best friends whether they like it or not.

Ty and I have been seeing a lot of these cute kids. Peyton and Jackson are our niece and nephew on his side. Jackson has recently added several recognizable words to his vocabulary but he's also very fluent in his own language. Sometimes he gets so mad, I'm sure he's using baby swear words at us. Peyton has been make-believing so much lately and it's hilarious. I was in the car with Britt and her kids and from the backseat we hear, "Ladies and Gentlemen! *clears throat* I'm sorry. I'm so sorry! Ladies and Gentlemen!"

Lastly, this is a picture from Ty's cousin's wedding. This is not a good picture but it is the best one from the whole day. We spent tons of time with his sweet grandparents who just had the funniest things to say. And the weather was fantastic. They couldn't have asked for a better day.

And now in the next few weeks, we've got Ty's brother's wedding as well as a shower for Ashley, his sweet wife to be. My parents will be in town for the 4th of July and another cousin wedding for us. Seriously, June 22 is your last chance to be our friends.

Belly Pics #6

Somewhere between graduation and this moment, I really lost interest in the whole chalkboard biz. I always thought about it late at night or we were just so busy with different things. (Mainly weddings. Every single one of our cousins got married. Not really. It just felt like it.)  So here's a few more and you'll just have to fill in the rest in your mind.

{May 19}

I started my third trimester which brought on an extra wave of panic along with a heavy dose of heartburn. Thanks crazy baby.

{June 9}
I also started to wear Ty's clothes when we're at home. (At least it's not when I go out in public.. most of the time) I'm getting so uncomfortable and the only other option is to hang out in my unmentionables and I just don't think my in-laws would approve.

My child is also getting wild. Extra wild. So wild in fact that at my last doctors appointment, the doctor was having a hard time finding her heartbeat because she was wiggling so much. He finally got it and said, "Well that's an active baby." Yes I know because I feel it ALL. THE. TIME. Her newest trick is to wedge a foot right above my hip and stretch her hands up close to my ribs. I imagine this is what it would feel like if you swallowed a squirrel whole.

All complaining aside, we're getting so excited and nervous but mostly excited. This pregnancy has gone by so fast and the summer is just zooming by. I won't see my sister and her kids or my cute brother in law til October and my brother until next May. It's hard to believe that "we" will be a family of three by then. And we just can't wait to snuggle our cute girl.

Belly Pics #5

First and foremost, I walked in the graduation ceremonies on April 26. I officially graduated in December but there aren't ceremonies in the winter. I'm strangely sentimental and I loved it. I graduated from the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and the ceremony was in the Wilk Ballroom.

{The Parents}
My parents came down from Washington to support me. I love them. I love them so much. The older I get, the more I recognize the things they gave up and worked hard for so I could have the best opportunities possible, including my education which I value so much.

Ty and his parents, Penny and Craig, also came to support me that day. Bless all their hearts, it was SO early in the morning.

{The sexy husband-man}
Now for the belly pictures. I just keep growing and I am continually shocked that I can get any bigger. I realize I still have a ways to go but this is definitely a new experience.

{Graduation Weekend}
We never took 26 week pictures because we were exhausted.

{Large and in Charge}
Now that I'm a little further along, I'm experiencing some wonderful pregnancy symptoms. I'm having a hard time getting out of bed or off the couch. Ty's going to have to roll me out soon enough. I've lost my flexibility and I forget that I have a protruding stomach these days. I trip a lot and lose my balance. I wear compression socks at night because my legs are so restless. I'm heading into my third trimester next week and I'm thinking I wasn't fully appreciating the joy of the second trimester while it was still good.

oh well, only 13 weeks til we meet our little nugget :)

Husbandisms #12

T: Baby, I just want to take you on a cruise.
E: Yeah, that would be nice.
T: No I'm serious. A cruise is just your kind of vacation.
E: You mean just laying around and eating whatever you want, whenever you want?
T: Exactly. That's what you like to do all the time.

T: You're my best friend.
E: That's good cuz you're my best friend.
T: But pretty soon we'll have another best friend.
E: That's true.
T: Then we'll be a club.

E: I want to eat all the time. Sometimes I think I'm an obese person trapped in a pregnant body.
T: I think there's always an obese person trapped in whatever body you have.

I'll tell you what, I'm a big fan of this guy.

Belly Pics #4

I'm actually looking pretty pregnant lately. I walked into work today and the first thing my boss said to me was, "You look pregnant today!" It happened sometime in the last five days and I just kind of popped.

We've also been able to see this girl move. It is a little weird and kind of confirms my feelings that there is an alien growing inside of me. She gets super wild at night and absolutely crazy if I have the slightest bit of caffeine. I think she dislikes when there is pressure on my stomach because she'll kick like a ninja when I rest my hands on my tummy. Ty's new favorite thing to do during church is to watch my belly for signs of life.

I also had a doctors appointment last week and everything is right on track. He did ask me if I have had any contractions but luckily I've been able to miss out on that experience. Not so luckily, he did confirm my suspicions that my Sciatic nerve was pinched. He did tell me heat and massage are about the only things that can help so if anyone is interested in being my personal massage therapist, let me know but you can't be shy about those glute massages.

Husbandisms #11

Lying in bed one morning
E: Would you still love me if my face looked like this? (And then I made a terrible face.)
T: Ew. No.
E: You should love me no matter what my face looks like.
T: You should join Billy Hill and the Hillbillies if your face looks like that. Then you can live in Disneyland forever.

Probably the same morning, we're in bed and he's whispering to my belly..
T: I love you more than mom does okay? Remember that.

And about ten minutes later...
T: I made you. You wouldn't be here without me. I'm like Dr. Frankenstein and you are my creation. (Insert evil laughter here)
E: You know she can hear you by now...

I Forgot to Tell You Something...

So one time I was almost five months pregnant and I went to the mall with my home girl, Joanifer. And I'm feeling pretty dowdy because I was looking pretty chubby instead of pregnant. These two boys stop us as we're walking between stores, probably 13 or 14 years old.

"Excuse me? Do you know how to spell 'beauty'?"
I go into total teacher mode, "Yes, it's b-e-a-u-t-y."
"That's right! Do you have a boyfriend?"
I was shocked because that was really not where I thought this was going. I should have seen it coming but I blame the pregnancy hormones on this one. I help up my left hand to show off my bling.
"No, but I do have a husband." Then I pointed to my belly and finished with, "... and a baby."
"Oh. My. Gosh." And then the little boys turned bright red and scurried off.

This girl's still got it, even at 5 months pregnant.
